Michael Phelps Wins 23rd Gold Medal As He Signs Off The Olympics

Michael Phelps brought down the curtain on his glittering Olympic career when he helped the USA win 4x100m medley relay gold at the Rio Games yesterday, taking his personal tally to 23.

After the race, Phelps raised his arms aloft to acknowledge the cheers from the crowd, while fiancee Nicole wiped tears from her eyes as she cradled their baby, Boomer, in the crowd.
The American finished in three minutes, 27.95 seconds, an Olympic record, to win by 1.29 seconds.

I’m ready for something different,' he said after the race. 'My swimming career might be over but I have a future ahead of me to turn the page and start whatever I want.' Its not the end of a career, it’s the beginning of a new journey, and just looking forward to that.’
